When the wheel alignment equipment at two of RRG Toyota’s 23 sites was due to be renewed, little did Group Aftersales Manager, Steve Walsh know that his decision to install a Hunter HawkEye Elite TD system would lead to a five-fold increase in the number of wheel alignments being carried out.
But that’s precisely what’s happened, and the group has not looked back since and expects to make further Hunter investments. “We’ve always had wheel alignment kit so we could check and adjust cars,” explains Steve. “We try to keep up with technological advances, and at two of our biggest sites, the equipment was coming up for replacement, so we went to the market to see what was available.”
Confident in the performance of its equipment, Pro-Align was proactive in offering to install an alignment demonstration unit for several weeks. In Steve’s own words, “it came out way ahead of the other bits of kit in terms of ease of use, speed, the efficiency of technicians’ time and reporting – both internally and for customers.”
Indeed, at the group’s Bolton site, they are now performing around five times as many wheel alignments as they were able to do with the previous system. According to Steve, “it’s a lot more transparent and helps to build confidence and trust with customers. We now perform a free Quick Check on cars as part of our routine operations, and this provides us with a perfect opportunity to say to them there is a potential issue. Previously, all we could do was look at the state of tyres, so we missed many opportunities.”
Quickly into the trial, Steve and his colleagues realised that there were some considerable benefits to the Hunter system and had no hesitation in committing to the purchase. And since then, things have continued to perform well, and the Hunter choice looks like a wise investment.
